YEAH!!

Kennedy finally did it today, she crawled (only a little bit at a time, but it still counts)!!

I guess its time for me to get some gates!

Now I know...

I now know what true seperation anxiety is... because Kennedy definitely has it. Everytime I leave the room she gets upset, even if she is with Pete. This is making it very difficult to get things done around here! Yesterday, Pete was watching the draft in the living room, otherwise known as the"man cave" and watching Kennedy. I was making lunch, which I brought into the room and then after we ate Kennedy was busy playing with some toys so I thought it was a good time to sneak out (note I have to sneak out of the room to keep her from getting upset), it did not work. As soon as I got close to the door she saw me and starting crying, yelling mama as I walked away. It breaks my heart to hear her cry for me like that, except for the fact that she does it every time!! I have figured out that I just have to walk away sometimes, I think eventually she will figure out that I will come back.

I wonder if this is a result of my being here with her all day and that she doesn't like it when I leave, because she is used to my being there all the time. I am hoping that if Kennedy and Pete have more one on one time, like we have during the day, it will eventually get better.

not much going on....

I haven't posted anything lately... mostly because there isnt much to report. Here is the lowdown on this week:

on Saturday we went to New Bern, a town outside of jacksonville. we went to a place called Tryon Palace, it is the old palace and gardens from the 18th century, it was pretty neat to see such historic homes up close and personal. While in New Bern we also went to the original building where Pepsi was "invented". It was pretty neat to see it, Pete and I shared a mountain dew from the old soda fountain.

Monday- Pete's softball team won again, they were now 3:0, Kennedy and I hadnt gone to a game yet, they were calling for rain each time and I hadnt wanted to take the risk of being caught in the rain with her

Wednesday- another softball game, kennedy and I made it to this one and of course it was their first loss, I think I am bad luck! it was nice to get out though, there were lots of other moms there, with little ones around Kennedy's age, but I could not bring myself to go up to any of them, they all seemed to know one another and were talking amongst themselves. I am hoping that maybe if we continue going to games eventually we will meet some of them.

Today- I took the dogs to the groomer. Lexie got a de-shedding treatment and bath and Beemer got his normal grooming. The groomer was in love with Beemer, she said he was the best looking Bichon she had done, we are going to attempt to get him looking like a bichon should, with the proper cut; hopefully I can keep up with the daily grooming that is required with that!

Here are a few pics I took today:

good news- update on work

shhh.... I'm "reading"
Kennedy was "helping" me match socks
Well I got some good news yesterday, I will continue working until Dec 19 and they are considering my working from home after that, so it may turn out to be a positive thing... we will just have to wait and see. Not much else is going on here, Pete had his second softball game last night, they are now 2:0.

it is supposed to be nice here the next few days so I am hoping we can get out this weekend and explore a little bit. I would really like to go to the NC zoo, its about 2 hours from the house so it would be an all day event.

Here are some new pictures of Kennedy

sleep issues

So it seems that our problems getting Kennedy to sleep at night are getting worse. For about a week now, she has consistently gone to sleep at her bedtime, and then like clockwork wake about an hour later. It seems like she thinks it is a nap, rather than bedtime. Tonight she did not go down for the night until 11:00. I am hoping that maybe if I start her day earlier, maybe 5 or 6 in the morning, rather than 7 or 7:30, we will "trick" her into going to bed at the normal time because nothing else seems to be working. We have tried baths, warm bottles, letting her wear herself out playing or in her jumper, getting her outside for some fresh air, and nothing seems to help get her down for the evening. It works to get her to sleep, but only for an hour or so. It is oh so frustrating!

bad news!

Well yesterday I got some bad news, the company I work for is essentially shutting down operations. The only part of the company that is going to stay is our servicing area of the business which is located in Cleveland. my boss told us that everyone in the department is welcome to stay on and work for CIT ( our parent company) but that would mean relocating to new york or new jersey, so obviously not an option for me! I have posted a link to one of the many news organizations that is posting this news all over. luckily for us they are giving a severance package, although we have not received the details yet, and we will be leaving in stages. according to my boss and execs at CIT, our finance team should be remaining on staff until the 3rd or 4th quarter of 08.
needless to say my stress level is through the roof right now, over the past 24 hours I have been mulling over all of our options in my head trying to figure out what we should do. The options I have been considering are:
1. Pete goes to OCS and I stay home while maybe picking up job at creative memories, pampered chef, tastefully simple, etc..
2. I try to find something that I can do from home (maybe a home daycare situation?) while staying home with Kennedy and if necessary Pete finds a second job
3. I try to find something here (the job market around here is not very good) and Kennedy would have to go to a daycare during the day- last resort

luckily, as I said before we are getting a severance package, which I am hoping we can use to pay off all bills and put some away in savings as a backup in case things get tight.

if you have any thoughts on some other options please feel free to weigh in, and hopefully I will have more information within the next two weeks as they have told us.

my first attempt at meeting people out here

so this weekend we had some people that pete works with over to the house for dinner. It went pretty well, but I dont really see us hanging out with them all that often. the guys played the wii the majority of the evening, and the other girls and I played with kennedy, while i wasn't in the kitchen... which I felt like I was in there nearly the entire night. I guess I went into it thinking that maybe we would find another couple like Zach and Amy that we could hang out with, at least occasionally, but I just dont see that happening any time soon... maybe we will try to have other people over another evening and see how that goes.

I think one really good thing that came out of the evening was I found a really good party snack. I made these buffalo chicken balls, which seemed to come out pretty good. I will post the recipe soon. they were really easy and you can change the recipe so it makes a lot of them in very little time.

Zach, Amy and Jack- we miss you guys!

crawling soon

It is hard for me to believe it but Kennedy will be crawling soon! for about a week now she has been getting very mobile, scooting around on her tummy; but today she got up on all fours and was doing that rocking thing. it feels like just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital, its really hard for me to believe she will be crawling around soon. I really think it might only be another week or two (if that!) before she is off.
