a little bit further...

I have a feeling that now that the house has been started I am going to be out there all the time! I am finding myself thinking about it during the day and wondering, how far they have gotten today?? I am going to have to restrain myself... We did go out last night and they had most of the brick laid around the foundation. It shouldn't be too long before the walls start going up!! They are currently building a few other homes like ours which are slated to finish mid June. Those homes have their roofs completed and are getting windows already. Ours has a completion date on the contract of June 30, so hopefully ours will catch up to the others in no time.

Pete is working on his power of Attorney and Will today. Because his chances of deploying to Afghanistan are now very high (about 98%) we are trying to prepare ourselves. If he leaves in April or early May he will not be here when we move into the new house. I keep telling myself that I have moved with him away before and everything was OK, but that was before Kennedy.... this time will be very different!! Hopefully we can get everything in order for the move before he leaves. They are supposed to get a leave block starting on Monday, we still haven't decided what we want to do. We have a few options, we can go to Toledo for a few days; take a mini vacation (maybe D.C or Myrtle Beach), or just stay around here and take small day trips (NC Zoo maybe?). I guess we will have to think about it a little more.

a few new photos

We took a few pics yesterday while playing.

Finallly!!

I haven't blogged in a while, hopefully I still have some readers!! we had a nice surprise yesterday when we went to the new neighborhood... They have started work on our lot!! The foundation is going in and brick is being laid. I don't think I have been that excited in a very long time. We also walked through a similar model that is being built as well. That model is roofed, and you can really get an idea of the layout and room sizes. Very Exciting!! I have attached some photos of the progress on our lot so far...

beautiful weather here

We have had some great weather here the past few days. Today's high was 80! It has given us a great opportunity to get outside, and Kennedy loves it. I have a feeling we will be spending a lot of time outside this summer. Yesterday we took Kennedy to the park, she was very good and had a good time on the playground, although she is still not too interested in the swings. She also had fun pulling her wagon around the park, and would get upset when we tried to help her.

Keeping Busy

These days Kennedy is really keeping us on our toes. She is becoming very independent and absolutely does not want anything to do with sitting down. (This includes sitting in her high chair, stroller, or a shopping cart!) Today we went to the mall in Wilmington. It was rainy and cold here and we just wanted to get out and do something. Kennedy was absolutely fascinated by the carousel. I think it would have made her whole day if we would have let her ride it, but we thought if we let her ride it this time she will expect to ride it every time we come... so we will save that for another day. She walked almost the entire mall... wanting nothing to do with sitting in her stroller.

She is starting to say a bit more these days, it seems like there is something new every few days. She really seems to be picking up her animal noises, is finally saying doggie (she was calling them arf arf for a while now), and a few other new ones. Still waiting for the big explosion of words to come.

I have also been keeping busy lately. I have finally decided to let go of some of my old clothes that I have been carrying around with us through the past 4 moves. I figure if they have been packed up that long it is time to purge and not take anything that is not necessary to the new house. I am selling them on ebay, I figure that extra money can help pay for new things at the new house and saves me time and energy in finding a place to put them. I really have a hard time letting go of clothes for some reason (I brought most of them to San Diego when I moved the first time). I have also been trying to pack up a little bit at a time so that the big move comes I do not have to stress out about packing. I figure I can pack non essential items ahead of time and will only have to focus on the essentials come moving time. We will see how my plan goes, so far I have about 6 boxes packed.
